The B2B exporter's old WordPress site, weighed down by plugins, took five to six seconds to open, overflowed its tables on phones and was hit by spam attacks because of security holes. And since the site was not connected to the product catalogue, machines that had sold out or been technically revised could not be updated, so overseas buyers were given the wrong information.
The site was written for what this company actually needed, not built on a theme. Light design: no ready-made interface library was used; the stylesheet written for the company's own identity stayed at 38 KB, and pages open instantly on a phone too. Automatic image pipeline: photos of machines and plants are resized and converted to a modern image format in the background, with a version produced for every screen size. Fast, secure delivery: pages leave the server in milliseconds and the security certificate renews itself. ERP connection: when a machine's drawing or specification is updated at the factory, it appears on its product page on the site straight away.
In Google's site quality check the site scored 100 out of 100 in all four areas: speed, accessibility, technical quality and search visibility. Once pages opened in under half a second, the share of overseas visitors filling in the enquiry form rose by 45%. With no exposed database layer on the site, the spam and attack problem disappeared as well.
